The Boats
The three Swift hybrids we used were produced at the
PaddleYak factory in April, and we were involved and assisted in the
production of the kayaks.
Swift Hybrid Double - Sit-on
Double Sea
Kayaks
This is the double version of the trend-setting Swift Hybrid Single Adventure
Kayak. The double offers the same features, namely, a sit-on seat and
self-draining scuppers as well as a sit-in type coaming for an optional
splash-cover. The combination of these features makes for a unique and safe
craft. The low volume and low deck minimizes the effects of the wind and
eases reentry after a capsize, making it a reliable craft under adverse
conditions. The Swift Double sports PaddleYak's latest adjustable rudder
system as well as two large screw hatches and two small ones for smaller
items. Bungees or additional hatches can be fitted on the large stern area.
The Swift Double not only offers a burst of speed for the adventure racer,
but also stability for those exploring, cruising or simply paddling for fun.
It is an attractive craft which is destined to become a design classic. It is
the leading adventure racing kayak in Southern Africa
and it was the kayak of choice in the 3000 kilometre Mozambique Sea Kayak
Expedition. The hybrid sit-in/sit-on design is a world first and not only
offers kayakers an alternative to sit-ins and sit-ons, but is setting a new
trend in kayak design and safety.
